That fantastic water retrieve, that long retrieve chasing down a pricked bird, lots of laughs, memories made and a list of what you and your dog need to work on!

  • Has your dog gone a bit self-employed when hunting?
  • Does their heelwork and lead work leave something to be desired?
  • How is their delivery?
  • Are they running in?
  • Are they ignoring your recall?

Dogs that have been out in the field a lot will appreciate some downtime before getting back to training in preparation for working tests and next season.

So, whilst we are all sad the season has ended there is much to look forward to over the spring and summer training and bonding with our dogs. Or perhaps you are welcoming a new puppy to your home or preparing to train your first ever gundog!

For something a bit different search for RJS Gundogs on Facebook who run simulated picking up sessions either driven or walked up - great for steadiness and most importantly great fun!

To get your dog used to gunshot or to work on steadiness around shot ask your local clay ground if you can walk take a walk round (don’t forget to wear hearing protection).

Whatever you are working on, we have everything you need and don’t be afraid to ask, there is no such thing as a stupid question.
